The traditional spelling of Pittsburgh is a true heritage success. The "H" is a testament to Pittsburgh's uniqueness, and its dedication to preserving accurate history.

We applaud those who spelled Pittsburgh correctly with the "H" when even the U.S. Post Office said it was wrong from 1890 to 1911, and we owe our gratitude to those who lobbied to have the correct spelling restored officially.

Recently there has been more publicity about this little known fact as illustrated in the History Center's Hidden Pittsburgh A to Z exhibit which highlights the H as the Lost "H" and Rick Sebak's A to Z list also notes the H for Historic spelling.

After all, we're not just any old burg, we're "THE 'BURGH."
